Assam Police Bust Cyber Fraud Gang In Tinsukia, Eight Arrested

 

GUWAHATI: Tinsukia Police arrested a gang of eight cyber criminals involved in financial fraud and online betting during a raid in the Tamulbari area of Tinsukia. The operation, conducted on Friday, March 28, was led by Addl. SP(HQ) Tinsukia and the OC of Tinsukia Police Station.

Among those arrested, four were from Tinsukia, while the other four were apprehended from Chhattisgarh. The raid resulted in the seizure of multiple digital devices, including mobile phones, laptops, and tablets, along with over 130 ATM cards, more than 50 bank passbooks, and cheque-books suspected to have been used for illicit transactions.

Speaking to GPlus, Additional SP (HQ) Tinsukia, Mrinmoy Das, stated, “We conducted an operation that led to the arrest of eight individuals, four from Tinsukia and four from Chhattisgarh. They were running a call centre used to operate an online betting network. The investigation is ongoing, and we are looking into potential connections to larger cyber fraud operations.”
