GUWAHATI: State Innovation & Transformation Aayog (SITA) signed a Memorandum of Agreement(MoA) on Tuesday with Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat, as the implementing partner on the project "Up-scaling of livelihood: Implication through Smart Agriculture and Agri-Eco-Tourism".
The project aims to (i) develop a climate-smart model of Agriculture that focus on resource production, (ii) create farmer-friendly water harvesting structures, (iii) maintain soil health and control pest and disease, (iv) encourage the use of an integrated farming system, (v) create homestead gardening models and (vi) to build tourist family accommodation.
SITA vice-chairman Ramen Deka discussing the project, said that the project's main aim is to develop a specific climate smart model of livelihood options centring particularly on agriculture and the allied sector as this sector is the backbone of the state's economy.
Ashok Bhattacharya, Director of Research (Agri), represented the Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat.
Co-Vice Chairman Dhruba Prasad Baishya and other officials of SITA attended the MoA signing.
