GUWAHATI: An FIR has been registered against the officer-in-charge of the Sissiborgaon police outpost under section 306 of the IPC for abatement to suicide of Sub-Inspector Nipan Nath.
According to reports, based on a complaint by the family members of SI Nath, an FIR has been filed against Padmeswar Borkataki who is currently the officer in charge.
The family members of the deceased termed the incident as ‘abatement of suicide’ and lodged a complaint against Borkataki seeking an investigation into Nath's death.

Reportedly earlier, a section of locals of Sissiborgaon filed a written complaint before Dhemaji Superintendent of Police alleging that IC Borkataki misused his power.
Speaking to the media, Dhemaji superintendent of police VV Rakesh Reddy said, “Borkataki has been kept in police reserve for the sake of free and fair inquiry. A case has been registered against Borkataki in Silapathar PS and departmental action would be initiated if found guilty."
