Shops in Assam to Open Only as Per State Govt Directive: Assam Police ADGP in Light of MHA Order

GUWAHATI: Additional Director General of Police,Law and Order,GP Singh has confirmed in a tweet that the Home Ministry's new order to open single shops are not to be implemented in Assam, unless ordered by the state government.

Earlier, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs had issued an order on the 24th of April stating that all shops in residential complexes and market complexes, except shops in multi-brand and single brand malls, referring to shopping malls in general, in rural and semi-rural areas will be allowed to operate.

For municipalities and metropolitan areas, neighbourhood shops, standalone shops, and shops inside the residential complexes will be allowed, but shops in shopping malls are to remain closed as per the earlier rules. 

All shops that are allowed to operate are to have only 50 percent of the workforce and follow all lockdown protocol.
