GUWAHATI: Seven child labourers were rescued on Saturday from garages in the Six Mile and VIP Road areas of the city. The operation was carried out by the Police, the District Task Force for Child Labour, NGOs Assam Centre for Rural Development and Bachpan Bachao Andolan, along with the District Child Protection Unit, Kamrup Metropolitan.

The children, who were found working under hazardous conditions, have been temporarily shifted to a shelter home. Officials said they are conducting further investigations to identify those responsible for employing the minors and ensure strict action under child labour laws.
Speaking on the operation, a member of the District Task Force stated, "We are committed to eradicating child labour and ensuring a safe future for these children. Support from the public is crucial in reporting such violations."
The rescued children are undergoing counselling.
