GUWAHATI: A senior journalist was attacked today morning, September 7 in the Chandmari area of Guwahati.
Banajit Thakuria, Senior Journalist of Asomiya Pratidin went to Chandmari today to report the fire at a restaurant in Commerce Point, Chandmari where he was attacked by a group of bystanders.
While speaking exclusively to G Plus, Thakuria said, “I went to report the fire outbreak in Chandmari and was only doing my due diligence when suddenly a group of people attacked me and also tore my clothes."
The police arrived at the scene instantly and caught two attackers while the others fled.
An FIR has been filed by Thakuria at the Chandmari Police Station and further investigation on the case is underway.
While speaking to G Plus, the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) said that the FIR has been filed and investigation is going on.
Dispur Press Club, Guwahati Press Club and Press Club of Assam Have condemned the act and have demanded justice as soon as possible.
