Russian Tourist Shares Report Of Being Duped In Guwahati As False

GUWAHATI: A recent news involving a Russian man allegedly being deceived by a man from Assam has been circulating in media for the last few days which has been confirmed to be untrue as per official reports on November 14.

Media agencies have reported that an individual named  Ashish Sharma duped a Russian man named Alexander of ₹11,000, and made a run. Reports also stated that Alexander filed a complaint at Dispur Police Station. However, when GPlus paid a visit to Alexander, he claimed that the reports were untrue.

According to Alexander, he came to India to visit Mayapur, West Bengal. He met Ashish Sharma at the Howrah station and they became good friends and Sharma even invited him to visit Assam.

But before starting their journey to Assam, Alexander fell sick and they booked a dormitory at Sealdah station. During the time Alexander was sick, Ashish bore the cost of living, food, and medicines.

However, after they reached Guwahati, Alexander asked his mother to send him ₹11,007, which was deposited into Ashish's account. However, due to a disagreement both of them went to Dispur Police Station to settle the dispute, which was sorted without filing any complaint.

While talking to GPlus, Alexander said, "I have already paid back Ashish ₹4,500 and will pay back the remaining amount within a day or two."

Speaking on this the Officer in Charge of Dispur Police Station said “This was a very minor issue and it's quite saddening that these media personnel in order to garner TRP, fabricate and twist the happening of the incidents. Such twisting of facts alienates us from the real news and real issues.”
