Police intercepted a vehicle along the Dhudhnoi-Siluk road and recovered 11,950 tablets of Tapentadol, a prescription painkiller often misused as a narcotic. The consignment weighed approximately 5.006 kilogram and has an estimated black-market value of ₹5.3 lakh.

Talking to GPlus, a police official from Dudnoi police station said, “The accused, Moinul Islam, has been taken into custody at the scene. Initial investigations revealed that the drugs were being transported from Cooch Behar in West Bengal to Baghmara in Meghalaya, using a vehicle.”

In an effort to avoid detection, the contraband had been cleverly hidden inside the vehicle’s engine compartment. Upon interrogation, Moinul Islam admitted to the consignment’s origin, destination, and street value.

Further details are awaited as investigations are underway.
