GUWAHATI: A massive fire broke out at three business establishments in Guwahati’s Datalpara area around 11:30 PM on March 4.

According to a Fire Department official, the blaze caused property damage worth ₹40 lakh, while goods worth ₹10 lakh were saved. However, the establishments said that they were yet to assess the loss incurred.
Talking to GPlus, a police official from Fatashil Ambari said, “The fire we suspect occurred from a short circuit nearby. It consumed most of the timber and plywood inside the warehouse.”
The fire originated in a plywood godown before spreading to a wooden furniture godown and a steel almirah factory. Several fire tenders were pressed into service to control the blaze.
