GUWAHATI: In an operation carried out by the Crime Branch and City Police at Solapara in Guwahati, over Rs 74.5 lakh worth of cash was recovered from a house on July 28.
According to the police, the operation was carried out based on inputs from a source about the presence of narcotropic substances on the 4th floor of Kalachini apartment at Solapara.
“During the search, unaccounted cash amounting to Rs 74,05,600, suspected to be utilized in financing illicit traffic of narcotropic substance, was recovered and duly seized,” police said.

The apartment is owned by one Sangita Laishangbam, wife of Paunam Shyam Singh from Imphal West.
Meanwhile, Sam Laithangbam, son of late Laithangbam Mangi Singh, from Imphal and Thangkhosat, son of Khophau from Churachndpur under Old Bazar Police Station in Imphal were also apprehended.
Accused Sangita Laishanbam was earlier arrested in Basistha Police Station in case no 449/19; U/S- 22 NDPS act where she was found in possession of narcotropic substances.
Further, she was constantly in touch with known drug peddlers, and was suspected to be supplying drugs to one Tashur Ali who was arrested in Bharalumukh Police Station case no 315/2020; U/S _ 22 (B) NDPS act.
