Rs 2000 crore to be invested for development of roads in the state : PWD Minister

Parimal Suklabaidya, MoS, PWD Dept, during a conference held today at the Convention cum Training Centre, Dispur announced several developmental schemes and also reviewed the progress of the current projects in Assam. Following are some of the significant announcements that the minister made in the conference : All habitation with population more than 250 will be connected with pucca road by constructing 12000 Km of road within 3 (Three) years.  For maintenance of road Rs. 2000 Crores assured in financial year 2016-17 to 2018-19. CRF has been increased from 400 Crores to 800 Crores. Under RIDF XXII, NABARD tendering process for Rs. 472 Crores has been already initiated.  502 Kms new roads work completed, 600 Km roads repaired, 106 RCC bridge completed, 40 nos. wooden bridge repaired under PWD Roads during the tenure of present Government.  Revision of Assam PWD Code 1954 has been updated.  Online e-portal has been developed for computerized business process which include contractor registration, estimate submission, project monitoring, billing system for hassle free payment and employee information already been operational.  To support the online system our Government already provided 1500 laptops to PWD Officers alongwith 3G Data card to support the e-portal system.  A GIS based road asset management system (RAMS) has been developed in Assam PWD for better road management and maintenance planning of the road network. 3 (Three) nos. of innovative bridges have been taken up in Sonitpur, Lakhimpur & Dibrugarh Distt. Design done by ISAN Corporation (South Korea Company).  Road Research Laboratory has been upgraded to Assam Road Research Training Institute for capacity building for Engineers & Contractors for NE Regions.  Construction of New Bridge over River Brahmaputra from Kuruwa to Narengi.
