Royal Bengal Tiger Dies While In Transit To Assam State Zoo

GUWAHATI: A male Royal Bengal tiger that was recently recovered in Dhing, Nagaon district, died on Saturday, August 24, while being transported to the Assam State Zoo in Guwahati.

Talking to GPlus, a senior official from Assam State Zoo said, "The tiger was found weak and in a distressed state when forest officials rescued it earlier this week. Despite efforts to stabilise its health, the tiger’s condition remained critical. The animal was being shifted to the Assam State Zoo in Guwahati for further medical care and rehabilitation when it died en route. The exact cause of death will be known only after postmortem examinations." 

The Assam State Zoo authorities, along with the state’s forest department, have initiated an inquiry into the incident.
