GUWAHATI: A tragic road accident killed one and injured another in the Kasadal area of the Goalpara district on Monday.
According to reports, a vehicle carrying two passengers hit a cow and lost control on the National Highway (NH) 17 in the Kasadal area, causing the vehicle to ram through the bridge's railing.
The driver and the passenger of the vehicle have both been identified as professors at the Pandit Deendayal Model College in Amjonga, Dudhnai.
Shubhamoy Dey, a resident of Maligaon in Guwahati, has been identified as the driver, and his wife as the second passenger.
The police rescued both of them from the vehicle and transported them to the Rangjuli Hospital with the assistance of locals.
Shubhamoy Dey was referred to Guwahati in critical condition after providing first aid in Rangjuli, but later died at a private hospital in Guwahati.
