As per reports, they had checked into the apartment on November 23 at around 12:30 pm and were allocated room 101 on the first floor, with their stay scheduled to end on Tuesday morning. When housekeeping staff arrived to prepare the room for the next guest, they found the door locked and a foul odour emanating from within. Using a spare key, they entered to find Maya’s lifeless body on the bed, stained with blood.
Preliminary investigations indicate the murder was premeditated. Police suspect Hanoy brought a knife in a bag to the scene and later purchased a nylon rope through a quick-commerce app on Monday. Evidence seized from the crime scene includes cigarette butts, the victim’s mobile phone, and the rope. The mobile phone has been sent for forensic analysis.
Authorities suspect Hanoy stayed in the apartment with the victim’s body overnight before fleeing.
Hanoy, who worked as a student counsellor at a private firm in HSR Layout, has no confirmed address in Bengaluru. Maya lived near Hoodi metro station and worked for a private company in South Bengaluru.
According to Maya’s sister, who also resides in the city, the victim had known Hanoy for six months, but the nature of their relationship remains unclear. Two police teams are actively searching for the suspect as the investigation continues.
