According to reports, the duo was travelling on a scooter from Jalukbari towards Khanapara when the truck hit them.
The body of the deceased has been sent to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for a post-mortem.
Despite attempts, GPlus was unable to get a response from the local police regarding the incident.
Balughat has increasingly become a danger zone for commuters due to poor traffic regulation and lack of clear road signage.
Ongoing drainage construction work under the Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has led to widespread confusion, with service lanes near the Basistha flyover left poorly managed. Vehicles are often seen navigating through unmarked diversions and uneven stretches, with little intervention from traffic authorities.
