GUWAHATI: A senior auditor at the Controller of Defence Accounts (CDA) office in Guwahati has been arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for accepting a bribe. The arrest took place on Sunday, April 6, in Guwahati’s Satgaon.
The accused, identified as Mrinmoy Ghosh, was caught red-handed while accepting ₹43,000 in cash. According to defence sources, the total bribe amount demanded by Ghosh was ₹2.72 lakh was sought in exchange for passing a bill.
A defence source told GPlus, "The arrest was made just outside the CDA office premises, where Ghosh is employed as a senior auditor. The money was taken from Bikash Sarkar in exchange for clearing a bill. Sarkar has also been arrested in connection with the case."
The CBI has launched a further investigation into the matter.
