GUWAHATI: Lalit Gogoi, a retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer hailing from the Assam and Meghalaya cadre, passed away on November 28 at the age of 63.
According to reports, the former 2005-batch IAS official breathed his last due to a cardiac arrest at Nemcare Hospital in Guwahati, where he was admitted.
Throughout his career, Lalit Gogoi served in key administrative roles, including District Commissioner positions in Sonitpur and Nalbari districts. He also held significant responsibilities as the Commissioner of the Transport and Revenue departments. Gogoi concluded his career as the commissioner secretary to the Assam government.
Minister for Environment & Forests, Of Assam Chandra Mohan Patowary took to X to put out, “I am saddened to learn of the sudden demise of Lalit Gogoi, former Deputy Commissioner of Nalbari district, who retired as commissioner secretary to the Government of Assam. I pray for eternal peace to his departed soul and extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved family.”
