Two passengers in the SUV, both in their early twenties, passed away at the scene while another was injured.

Talking to GPlus, a senior traffic police official revealed, “We handle at least 40 drink-and-drive cases daily, and the numbers often exceed 50 on Saturdays, when the city witnesses higher footfall in restaurants, pubs, and bars.”

The official further highlighted the financial aspect of their enforcement efforts, stating, “On an average, we collect fines amounting to at least Rs 15 lakh every day, primarily from traffic violations, including drink-and-drive cases and on Saturdays it's even higher.”
