GUWAHATI: A retired engineer was reportedly murdered by unidentified assailants in Kokrajhar district in the wee hours of November 29.
According to video reports in the media, the perpetrators allegedly invaded the residence in the Bidhanpalli area, assaulting the victim and his wife with sharp objects.
The deceased, identified as Tapan Chakravarty aged 70, a retired engineer from the Agriculture Department, was purportedly hacked to death during the attack.
The motive behind the assault is yet to be determined. Tapan's wife, Madhumita Chakravarty aged 65, also suffered severe injuries in the unprecedented attack and has been hospitalised in Bongaigaon for medical treatment, as per reports.
While talking to GPlus, a senior police official confirmed the report and said that they have already identified suspects and are investigating the matter further.
