GUWAHATI: Rescue operations at the coal mine in Dima Hasao district, where 15 miners are feared trapped, will continue through the night.

Defence PRO, Guwahati took to X to say all lighting arrangements have been made. He also said that army and Assam Rifles divers attempted to go into the mine twice during the day.
Indian Navy divers also joined the rescue efforts after arriving from Vishakhapatnam. NDRF and SDRF besides police are also engaged in the operation to rescue the trapped miners.
According to reports, the water level in the mine has reached 100 feet.
The miners were trapped after water flooded the mine on Monday, January 6.
Police have arrested one Punish Nunisa, the owner of the mine for allegedly running an unauthorised operation. The police made the arrest after receiving a complaint in this regard from the Assam Mineral Development Corporation Ltd .
