Republic Media Network editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami has directed his legal team Pheonix Legal to initiate the proceedings to sue the Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh for Rs 200 crore damages, which includes Rs 100 crore for damages against Arnab Goswami's reputation and Rs 100 crore for the damage caused to Republic TV Network.
As per Republic TV, the Mumbai Police and Maharashtra Government lawyer on Monday in the Bombay High Court admitted that Republic TV has not been named in the FIR lodged regarding the TRP manipulation case.
Earlier, the Mumbai Police on October 8 claimed that Television Rating Point (TRP) was manipulated by some channels in Mumbai.
"We have busted a fake TRP racket involving two Marathi channels and Republic TV," said Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh adding that a fake TRP racket was being run by these TV channels to manipulate Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) TRP data.
