Regional Review Meeting Of Northeastern States On Ayush Conducted In Guwahati

GUWAHATI: A significant Regional Review Meeting on Ayush was successfully organised in Guwahati, under the joint auspices of the National Ayush Mission, Assam, Health and Family Welfare Department of the Government of Assam, and the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India on Friday. 

The meeting, held on August 25, aimed to deliberate on the progress and future prospects of Ayush initiatives in the North Eastern states of India.

Chaired by Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister of Ayush and the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, the event witnessed the participation of eminent dignitaries. 

The Chief Guest for the occasion was Assam Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Chief Minister of Assam. 

Dr Munjapara Mahendrabhai Kalubhai, Minister of State for Ayush, also graced the event with his presence.

Health Ministers from several North Eastern states, including Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, and Sikkim, attended the meeting. Notably, the Finance Minister of Tripura was also among the esteemed guests.

The focal point of discussions revolved around the rapid development of Ayush Health and Wellness Centres as part of the National Ayush Mission Scheme. The meeting provided a platform to deliberate on the strategic implementation of the National Ayush Mission Scheme across the North Eastern states.

Ayush, which was accorded the status of a ministry in 2014, started with an initial budget of 671 crores. 

Over the years, it has seen a remarkable growth in funding, with the current budget standing at 3600 crores. This allocation underscores the government's commitment to fostering holistic healthcare practices and promoting Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy across the nation.
