Readers Can Now Access Rare Assamese Literature Works Online

The Asam Sahitya Sabha on Tuesday, December 15 signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Assam Electronics Development Corporation Limited (AMTRON) with the aim to establish an online platform to access Assam's literature.

Under the MoU, AMTRON will develop a digital archive for the apex literary body of the State, by digitizing various literary works.


G Plus spoke to Asam Sahitya Sabha President Kuladhar Saikia who stated that "the first step will be towards the coverage of the works of Srimanta Sankardev and his contemporary." It will further cover various rare, hand-written and other invaluable literary works of the region.


Saikia revealed that the digitisation attempts will exploit the potential to tap in youths. "The youngsters of the state will be able to access it better as it will be online," Saikia added. 


After signing the MoU, Saikia said that the project will begin soon after the infrastructure building. Currently, few books of the Sahitya Sabha are already available in the proposed manner.
