Re-Admission Must For Students Who Failed HSLC Examination, Says Assam Education Minister

GUWAHATI: Assam Education Department has made it mandatory for students who failed in the HSLC Examination, 2023 to take admission in Class X as a regular student.

Assam Education Minister Ranjo Pegu on Wednesday said it is mandatory for the unsuccessful students to take the admission.

The notification said the students will not be able to appear in the subsequent examination without re-admission.

Candidates may take admission to the same schools from where they appeared in HSLC Examination 2023. If any school is not in a position to offer re-admission, students may take admission in any other nearby school.

The registration numbers of the students will not change, and candidates will have to appear in subsequent examinations with the same registration number.

“Candidates can change the elective subjects. But, it must be done before the half-yearly examination. After a half-yearly examination, change of subject will not be allowed,” the notification said.

Schools where the candidates will take re-admission will arrange an assessment of the practical of the candidates for the period of study, and will send practical marks/internal assessments marks to SEBA, the notification said.

The candidates (repeaters) will have to appear compulsorily in the half-yearly examination of Class X, failing which they will not be allowed to appear in the next examination.

“For processing/declaration of results by District Examination Committee of Annual Examination of Class IX and Revisionary Examination of Class X, the weightage to be taken for six subjects with internal assessment marks, i.e. English, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, Advanced Mathematics and Geography,” the notification said.

For internal assessment, marks in English for the final exam shall be provided by SEBA only based on the performance of each student in the Spoken English App.

“Therefore, all the teachers are requested to administer frequent tests of each student through the spoken English App,” the notification added.
