Pork A Favourite Among Rajasthan Royals Players, Says Riyan Parag

GUWAHATI: Guwahati boy and one of Rajasthan Royals’ batting mainstays, Riyan Parag, has a job at hand with the team now in the city for two IPL matches: Arranging pork.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, May 15, Riyan said that several of his teammates are foodies and love pork. “They love eating pork, so I arranged it for them,” he said in a lighter vein.

Pork is a delicacy among large sections of the people of Assam and most other Northeastern states.

Rajasthan Royals will take on Punjab Kings at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium on Wednesday, May 15 evening. On other plans his teammates have during their stay in Guwahati, Riyan said they would like to do some sightseeing.

“We will go for local sightseeing after the match tomorrow (May 15) and before the next one (May 19). The plan is to visit Kamakhya Temple and also Kaziranga, if possible. So, more than the food, the sightseeing is important,” said Riyan.

Batting at number 4 for his state team in the domestic tournaments, Riyan was given the same position in RR in this season.

“Due to the impact player rule, I am the 7th bowling option for the team, as the team already has six bowling options. I am both happy and sad,” he said.

“If the seventh option is not required to be used it means our team is not giving away too many runs, which is good,” he explained while adding that he is continuing to bowl at the nets in case he is required to bowl.

On likely pressure playing at home, he said, he is focused on the game and not on who’s coming to watch. “Let all come and enjoy the match,” he said.

Rajasthan Royals will next play Kolkata Knight Riders on May 19 at the same stadium.
