GUWAHATI: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) registered an 8-wicket victory over Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their IPL 2025 clash at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on Wednesday, March 26. Quinton de Kock played a match-winning knock, remaining unbeaten on 97 off 61 balls, to guide his team to a comfortable chase of 152.

Earlier, after opting to bowl first, KKR bowlers capitalised on the slow surface to restrict RR to 151 for 9 in 20 overs. Varun Chakaravarthy (2 for 17) and Moeen Ali (2 for 23) led the attack, while Vaibhav Arora and Harshit Rana also picked two wickets each. Dhruv Jurel was the top scorer for RR with 33 off 28 balls.

During RR’s innings, a light-hearted moment also unfolded when Shimron Hetmyer was hit by a powerful drive from Jurel at the non-striker’s end. The West Indies batter jumped in an attempt to dodge the ball but fell abruptly, laughing while lying on the ground.

Chasing 152, KKR got off to a slow start but de Kock’s explosive innings, laced with 8 fours and 6 sixes, ensured they stayed ahead. The South African batter dominated the RR bowling attack, leading KKR to victory in 18.3 overs.

Earlier in the match, Assam’s alumni Riyan Parag tried to accelerate the RR innings but was dismissed for 25 off 15 balls. He attempted a heave through the on-side, but the ball held up, leading him to edge it high into the air. De Kock completed a good catch off Varun Chakaravarthy’s delivery.
