Quarantine Period for Passengers Arriving in Assam now Reduced to 10 Days

GUWAHATI: Quarantine period for passengers arriving in the state of Assam has been reduced to 10 days inclusive of days spent in institutional or hotel quarantine as well as home quarantine, according to a new guideline issued by Kumar Sanjay Krishna, Chief Secretary of Assam.

However, if the RT-PCR test result of such passengers turns out positive in the interim, steps will be taken as per standard procedure.

As per the previous protocols, passengers arriving from outside the Assam were supposed to undergo a combined institutional quarantine or home quarantine of 14 days. 

Further, new directives include mandatory 7 days’ home quarantine for the discharged patients who have recovered from COVID-19, with active surveillance by the health workers.
