PWD Engineers to be transferred every 3 years: Himanta Biswa Sarma

GUWAHATI: State Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on June 9 said that engineers who have been staying at a place for more than three years should be “mentally prepared for getting transfer orders within 15 days.”

Sarma informed that when an engineer is posted at a place for more than three years, their vested interest also increases. He added that this is the reason why frequent transfers of engineers are necessary.

The minister further added that during the last fiscal, the centre had approved Rs 3500 crore for the renovation of state roads. He mentioned that despite this, potholes are a common sight. He asked the engineers to work towards improving the overall state of all roads while there is still time.
