PHED convened a meeting on November 14, 2024, at 11 AM, chaired by its permanent president near the headquarters of the Public Health Engineering Department in Hengrabari, Guwahati. The meeting was attended by permanent employees working under various water supply schemes in the city.

The discussion centered on a formal complaint submitted by employees against Branch Assistant Rumi Shrideep Thakuria. The employees alleged that Thakuria had been engaging in mental harassment, financial improprieties, and other unethical activities over the past two years. A written application detailing these grievances was presented to the president and secretary of the association.

Upon reviewing the allegations, the association concluded that Thakuria had a history of misconduct, including mental and financial harassment of employees. Additionally, evidence supported claims of ongoing misdeeds within the department. After thorough deliberation, the association unanimously decided to suspend and expel Thakuria from his role as an office bearer and primary member of the association for a period of three years.

The decision bars Thakuria from undertaking any activities or roles within the association during this period.
