GUWAHATI: Former MP, MLA, founder General Secretary of the Plains Tribal Council of Assam (PTCA) and one of the most prominent figures of Bodo nationalism, Charan Narzary died early this morning, July 23.
He was 87 at the time of his passing at Downtown Hospital.
Earlier, Narzary fell down at his Mwiderkhoro residence in Kokrajhar, following which he had to be hospitalised.

It is to be mentioned that in the early seventies, he was the man who led the ‘Udayachal’ movement for tribal people under PTCA, and then he also served as MLA and MP for many years.
In addition to that, he was a professor at Kokrajhar College before joining politics and also a noted writer and poet.
