An update on the same was shared by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday, April 14. “We are expecting work to commence on over ₹12,000 cr of power related projects before the year,” he posted on X. “One such effort is North East’s first Pump Storage Project (PSP), a new hydroelectric storage system to ensure grid stability and meet peak power demand.”

The development marks an advancement in the state’s energy infrastructure and is part of Greenko Group’s investment commitment in Assam. The investment was first pledged at the Advantage Assam 2 summit, and the project was announced following a follow-up meeting between the chief minister and Greenko Group officials.

Notably, the PSP is designed to store energy by moving water between reservoirs at different elevations, generating electricity during peak demand. This model has been regarded as an efficient and renewable way to stabilise energy supply.
