Viral video of man falling on Train Tracks in Guwahati Railway Station is fake: PRO, NFR

GUWAHATI: A video claiming to have originated from Guwahati, that has been doing the rounds on social media has gone viral, with over 95,000 views and 1,900 shares. 

In the video, a man can be seen fallen by the tracks of a railway platform which has been alleged as footage from the Guwahati Railway Station. The man survives a near death experience as seen in the video. 

This video was published by a Facebook page, “Unofficial: Gauhati” and has racked up hundreds of comments. Adding to this, several media houses from the city published the clip and based a news around it, with incorrect information.

However,  G Plus reached out to sources at the Guwahati Railway Station and confirmed that this video was in fact, not from Guwahati. The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) confirmed that the information given along with the video by other publications was incorrect. 

”The train is not Rajdhani Express (as quoted by other publications) and the station is not Guwahati Railway Station either. We have ascertained that the train in the video is the Humsafar Express and the station in the video is not Guwahati because you can see a water pipeline where the man fell. However, there is no such water pipeline in Guwahati station or Kamakhya Railway Station,” said the Public Relations Officer, NFR.
