Passengers who booked Jet Airways tickets are unlikely to get their refunds soon as the airline has temporarily announced cancellation of its domestic and international flights from April 17.

According to a report on The Hindu, passengers will be provided a refund only if the airline processes it which might not happen unless Jet Airways is back in service. However, passengers were being compensated in case of cancellations until Wednesday, April 17.

The airline has asked for an emergency fund of Rs. 400 crore and written to the Prime Minister’s office, the Finance Ministry and the Ministry of Civil Aviation on April 15 for the same. Officials from the airline have mentioned that if this emergency fund if not released by banks, the airline will not be in a position to refund passengers for cancellations.

Following the announcement from Jet, the Civil Aviation Ministry tweeted that the DGCA and other regulators are monitoring the situation to ensure all rules in regard to refunds, cancellations and alternative bookings are followed strictly.
