'Pratirodhi Bondhu's of ASDMA Actively Working on the Frontline

GUWAHATI: In order to help the needy and backward sections of people in the rural and semi-rural areas of Assam, the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) had created a cadre of volunteers, called ' Pratirodhi Bondhu'. 

About 13,956 volunteers have registered for the cause with includes sportsmen like Shiva Thapa and Gopak Rabha leading the way.

The main objectives of this voluntary mobilization and management program include telephonic communication with vulnerable groups like the elderly and children to provide emotional and psychological support, additional manpower for non-medical response needs, advocating of social distancing and hygiene amongst the masses, developing coordination, reporting and feedback mechanism through community reach-out during lockdown and afterward as well as helping with various bank transactions.

As per ASDMA officials, these volunteers will also be helping during the forthcoming flood situations of the state.

The volunteers have already started work as frontline workers from 1st May and have reached out to the people across Assam.
