Political Banners Removed from Guwahati ahead of Assam Legislative Assembly Elections

GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has ramped up the drive to remove political posters ahead of the Assam Legislative Assembly elections 2021. This was informed to G Plus by a senior official from the GMC. 


The posters are being removed as per the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) that has come to force in Assam following the declaration of the upcoming poll dates. The Kamrup (Metropolitan) District Administration Deputy Commissioner (DC) Biswajit Pegu took stock of the matter on February 27.


The time limit given for the removal of the posters from government buildings is 48 hours while for private buildings, it is 72 hours. The administration has to remove all such materials and posters within this time frame.
