Police rubbishes allegation against Khetri Officer-in-Charge

GUWAHATI: Commissioner of Police Hiren Chandra Nath, backing the OC of Khetri rubbished the allegation leveled by the Dimoria unit of AASU.

Hiren Chandra Nath speaking to G Plus said, “We are very much disheartened to see that some vested interests are making a negative campaign against Pradip Nath of Khetri Police Station.”

Earlier this month, the Dimoria unit of AASU, in a press release, stated that Pradip Nath, Officer In charge of Khetri Police Station was using the name of Hiren Nath, Commissioner of Police of Guwahati City, to extort money from the people running various illegal businesses in the area and demanded a suspension.

Speaking about the youths who were being arrested Hiren Nath said that two boys, one of whom happened to be a former student leader, entered the Khetri police station in a fully inebriated condition and started charging the sentry as to why the OC had been seizing coal trucks.

The OC who was on patrolling duty upon reaching the Police Station was also charged with unprintable slang language. Apparently, they were not happy with the OC's action against illegal coal traders revealed the Commissioner.

"Now the question is, if they had a genuine grievance they could have come during the daytime with due decency. What is the purpose of barging into the Police Station Campus in a car at midnight in an inebriated condition?" asked the Commissioner.

Reports say the OC has streamlined the area from illegal activities and has arrested more than 40 criminals and smugglers of coal, timber, liquor etc.

Hiren Chandra Nath also stated that since there are allegations made by the Dimoria unit of AASU an inquiry would be set up to look into the matter.

DCP east has been asked to inquire and submit a report regarding the incident on an urgent basis.
