Police Rescue Gecko Lizard From Beharbari In Guwahati, One Held

 

GUWAHATI: Guwahati police have rescued a gecko lizard in a raid in the Seuj Nagar area of Beharbari. Officers from Basistha Police Station conducted the operation on Friday, January 24, seizing a mobile phone and a scooter in the raid. A man identified as Raju Ray, aged 18 was apprehended at the scene.

Guwahati police shared details of the successful operation on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “An EGPD team from Basistha PS rescued one Geco Lizard after a raid at Seuj Nagar in Beharbari. One Raju Ray (18) was apprehended. 1 mobile phone & 1 scooty (AS01FA4228) were seized. Legal action initiated.”

This incident follows another recent wildlife crime bust in Assam. Forest officials and the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau conducted a joint operation near the Badlabhata tea estate in Tinsukia on Tuesday, January 21. During this operation, they recovered pangolin skin, leopard skin, and sambar deer antlers.
