The arrest followed a complaint from a local resident alleging that ASI Ali had demanded the bribe in exchange for leniency in a criminal case. Refusing to comply with the illegal demand, the complainant sought intervention from the vigilance authorities.

Acting on the complaint, a trap was set on November 15, 2024, near Abdullapur Patrol Post. ASI Ali was caught red-handed accepting the bribe. The tainted cash was recovered from his possession and seized in the presence of independent witnesses.

Following the arrest, a case was registered at the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Police Station under ACB P.S. Case No. 81/2024, invoking Section 7(a) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (amended in 2018).

Authorities have stated that further legal actions are underway.
