This year’s iteration marks a departure from its earlier spot at the Assam Engineering Institute playground, as the previous location has been deemed unsuitable for the event due to the ongoing construction of the GNB flyover.
Organised jointly by the Publication Board Assam and the All Assam Publishers and Book Sellers Association, the 12-day event will host publishers and booksellers from across India and several other neighboring countries.
Last year, the fair attracted bibliophiles in droves, featuring over 100 stalls and 15 exhibitors from Bangladesh’s Dhaka alone.
However, Bangladeshi publishers will not participate in the book fair this time due to the ongoing bilateral issues between India and Bangladesh, as stated by Pramod Kalita, Secretary of the Publication Board of Assam.
