GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Police arrested a man from Nalbari district on Monday, October 7, for allegedly posing as a police officer and extorting money from people.

The suspect, identified as Sanjay Baishya, was apprehended by the Jalukbari police during the night. According to reports, he hails from the Belsor area in Nalbari district, and misrepresented himself as a police officer to extort money from unsuspecting individuals.
“We have identified a victim named Injamul Haque,” a police official told G Plus. “He was misled by Baishya, who demanded money from him under false pretences.”
Following a tip-off, the police conducted an investigation and nabbed the culprit. Further details regarding his activities and the extent of his deception are currently under investigation.
The police have also urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity involving similar fraudulent schemes.
