This is the second iteration of the international investor summit since its 2018 launch. Participants will include global investors, industry leaders, international organisations, startups, and students, with the goal of further establishing Assam as a prominent investment destination.

Ahead of the summit, Prime Minister Modi arrived in Guwahati on Monday, February 24 and participated in the Jhumoir Binandini (Mega Jhumoir) 2025 event. The dance performance, featuring around 8,000 performers, celebrated 200 years of Assam’s tea industry. Modi also participated, playing the traditional ‘Dhomsa’ drum.

Additionally, Modi inaugurated the exhibition titled Assam – Past, Present, and Future, which highlighted the state’s industries and infrastructure projects. During his interaction with delegates, he emphasised Assam’s growing prominence. The exhibition is a precursor to the summit, which will see the participation of over 60 global ambassadors and industry leaders.

In his speech at the Jhumoir Binandini, Modi reaffirmed his commitment to the development and cultural recognition of Northeast India, sharing his deep connection with Assam’s tea garden culture. “Just as you have a special relationship with the tea garden culture, I, too, share a deep bond with the tea gardens,” he remarked, recalling his early days as a “chaiwala.” He also addressed the historical neglect of Assam and Northeast India’s development, stating, “There was a time when the development of Assam and the Northeast was neglected, and the culture here was ignored. But I have become the brand ambassador of the culture of the Northeast.”

Modi emphasised that his administration has prioritised the region’s development, cultural recognition, and infrastructure growth, the region's development, cultural recognition, and infrastructure growth, following his landmark visit to Kaziranga National Park and the recognition of Assamese as a classical language.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had earlier stated that investment proposals worth ₹1.22 lakh crore, which were approved by the state cabinet on Sunday, February 23, are expected to be signed during the event. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is scheduled to address the valedictory session on Wednesday.
