GUWAHATI: Amid raging protests over the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill in the northeastern states, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president, Amit Shah will be visiting Assam in the next 10 days.
While PM Modi will be in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh between February 10 and 12, Amit Shah will be in Assam on February 12 to address public meetings and more significantly, to hold cluster meetings with different interest groups in the state.

Senior BJP sources told The Hindu that the visit was planned as per the country-wide travel plan for Shah, but that since this issue in Assam is significant, they hope that the cluster meetings will be helpful in explaining the Bill and the party’s position on it, and defuse some of the alarmism over the issue.
