GUWAHATI: Ashok Singhal, Assam Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs and Irrigation, led comprehensive review meetings addressing critical issues related to the implementation of irrigation schemes and urban development projects on November 28.
During the meetings, thorough discussions took place, and decisive actions were taken to address pressing matters in the Department of Irrigation and the Department of Housing and Urban Affairs (DoHUA).
The Greater Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) delivered presentations on Local Area Plans (LAP) and Town Planning Schemes (TPS) during the session. It was revealed that the Panbazar-Fancy Bazar-Uzanbazar area in Guwahati has been identified for LAP.
The Base Map for this area is already prepared, and stakeholder meetings have been conducted. Draft Proposals and Plans are currently in progress.
In another development, an expanse of 300 hectares in Maliata (Pt), Sathikapara (Pt), and Lochna villages within the Palasbari Revenue Circle has been earmarked for Town Planning Schemes (TPS). This strategic move is aimed at planned urban expansion, and the preparation of the Draft TPS is underway. Local public consultations have commenced, and the Declaration of Intention will be officially notified following extensive public engagement.
