GUWAHATI: Several people alleged that a mishap happened on the Guwahati ropeway on November 9, causing a ripple effect of concern and panic.
However, after conducting a thorough fact-check by GPlus, it was confirmed that no such accident took place.
The source of the confusion stemmed from images circulating on social media, depicting National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) officials seemingly involved in a rescue operation at the Guwahati ropeway.
These visuals triggered speculation and gave rise to unfounded rumours of an accident.
However, speaking to GPlus, Anbamuthan MP, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) stated, "There was no such accident. Today was a maintenance day, and the activities observed were part of a mock drill."
