The order, issued under Section 152(1) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, has mandated that all concerned parties take immediate steps to secure, manage, and dress the exposed wires within seven days.
This decision has been taken after a field verification revealed that these unsecured wires were causing physical discomfort and posing risks to the public. Failure to comply with the order may result in penalties under Section 223 of BNSS, 2023, with authorities having the right to cut and seize undressed cables at the expense of the cable owners.
Additionally, if the responsible agencies fail to act, pole-owning authorities will be directed to remove the hazard themselves, recovering the costs from cable operators. Non-compliance with the order could lead to enforcement actions under Section 160, including penalties and intervention by law enforcement.
The administration has also scheduled a hearing on February 14 at 4 PM at the district commissioner’s office, allowing affected parties to present their objections.
The directive was signed by Sub-Divisional Magistrate Kankan Sharma, ACS.
