Partha Sarathi Mahanta Appointed Guwahati Police Commissioner

 

GUWAHATI: Partha Sarathi Mahanta, IPS (SPS-2007), has been appointed as the new Guwahati Commissioner of Police, effective immediately.

He will succeed Diganta Barah, IPS, who has been transferred as IGP, Special Branch.

Along with his new responsibilities as the Commissioner of Police, Mahanta will continue to hold the additional charge of Inspector General of Police (Special Task Force), Assam.

This appointment is part of a reshuffle within the Assam Police aimed at enhancing administrative efficiency and public service.

Additional Transfers Announced:

1. Akhilesh Kumar Singh (IPS, RR-2003), who was serving as Inspector General of Police (T&AP), Assam, has been transferred to the position of Inspector General of Police (Law & Order), Assam. He replaces Prasanta Kumar Bhuyan, IPS, who has been transferred. Singh will also continue to serve as Inspector General of Police (Communication), Assam.

2. Diganta Barah (IPS, RR-2004), who was substantively posted as Inspector General of Police (Logistics), Assam and functioned as Commissioner of Police, Police Commissionerate, Guwahati is transferred and posted as Inspector General of Police (Special Branch), Assam, Kahilipara, Guwahati. Barah will also assume the role of Director, Lachit Barphukan Police Academy, Dergaon as additional charge with effect from the date of taking over charge vice Lachit Baruah, IPS transferred.

3. Lachit Baruah (IPS, SPS-2004), who was substantively posted as Inspector General of Police (Special Branch), Assam, Kahilipara, Guwahati will continue in his role as the Managing Director, Assam Police Housing Corporation Ltd., Rehabari, Guwahati.

4. Prasanta Kumar Bhuyan (IPS, SPS-2004), who was serving as Inspector General of Police (Law & Order), Assam, has been transferred to the position of Inspector General of Police (Admn.), Assam, with effect from the date of taking over charge against existing vacancy.

5. Vivek Raj Singh (IPS, RR-2006), currently serving as the Inspector General of Police (MPC), Assam, has been reassigned as the Inspector General of Police (T&AP), Assam, replacing Akhilesh Kumar Singh. Singh will also continue to serve as Inspector General of Police (MPC), Assam, and Inspector General of Police (BTAD), Kokrajhar, with additional charges.
