GUWAHATI: Is a parallel industry to Mumbai's 'Bollywood' coming up in Uttar Pradesh? Efforts have been intensified by the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government to set up the 'biggest film industry' in Noida.

According to reports, the Uttar Pradesh chief minister has sought proposals from three government agencies regarding the film city.

The Yamuna Authority has proposed 1,000 hectares of land for the Film City in Sector 21 in Noida along the banks of the Yamuna Expressway and has sent it to the government. At the same time, the Greater Noida Authority has also sent its proposal.

Actress Kangana Ranaut who is in leading the charge against the Mumbai based Bollywood industry on Sushant Singh Rajput death case took to Twitter to give a thumbs up to the initiative.

The actress ‘applauded’ the move and highlighted the need for ‘many reforms.’

She wrote that one of them was that there was the need for ‘one big film industry’ as right now it was being ‘divided on many factors.’

The 'Queen' star also stated that the Hindi film industry being synonymous to the Indian film industry was ‘wrong.’ She gave the example of the rise of Telugu cinema and how even Hindi films were now being shot at the Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad.

Kangana also shared that the Indian film industry becoming ‘one industry, many film cities’ was one of the aspects that had made it different from Hollywood, in terms of their success.
