Over 2,300 Bottles Of Banned Cough Syrup And 18 Kilograms Of Yaba Tablets Seized In Guwahati’s Azara

 

GUWAHATI: Assam Police raided a godown in Azara, on Saturday, January 11, uncovering an illegal smuggling operation disguised as a courier service. The operation led to the seizure of over 2,300 bottles of banned cough syrup and 18 kilograms of Yaba tablets.

The godown, located near GIMT University, was allegedly operating as a smuggling hub under the guise of a courier service. Investigations revealed that the contraband originated from Patna and was destined for delivery in Shillong.

The courier service's operational manager, Biplab Mazumder, has been taken into custody for questioning.

Speaking to GPlus, an official from Azara Police station confirmed the incident, saying, , “In a raid on a courier service warehouse near GIMT in Azara, authorities seized 2,300 bottles of banned cough syrup and 18 kilograms of Yaba tablets. Similar contraband items have been confiscated in previous operations.”
