GUWAHATI: Legendary two-time Oscar-winning actor Gene Hackman and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, were discovered mysteriously dead in their Santa Fe, New Mexico residence, along with their dog. Hackman was 95 years old, while Arakawa was 63.

Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza confirmed their deaths and stated that authorities are currently investigating the case.
"We can confirm that both Gene Hackman and his wife were found deceased on Wednesday afternoon at their home on Sunset Trail. The investigation is ongoing, but at this stage, we do not suspect foul play," Sheriff Mendoza said while talking to the media.
However, no details regarding the cause or exact time of death have been disclosed. "We are in the preliminary stages of a death investigation and awaiting approval for a search warrant," Mendoza added.
Born in 1930, Hackman had a prolific career spanning over 100 film roles. He earned two Academy Awards—Best Actor for his performance as Jimmy "Popeye" Doyle in The French Connection and Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Little Bill Daggett in Unforgiven.
