NRC draft to be released in Oct

The Centre on Tuesday announced that the draft of National Register of Citizens (NRC) is likely to be released by Oct of this year and the final NRC would be released in January 2017. The tentative dates have been announced keeping in mind the progress of the work and the time that document verification and family linkage would take. As informed by the Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju, 97 percent of the field verification of the application forms have been completed. He further said that the field verification of 66.27 lakh application forms, which accounts for 97 per cent, is complete and office verification of 4.31 crore documents, accounting for 64.04 per cent, has been completed.
